Single Product Verification (Module G)
What's single product verification?
It consists of a complete examination (including drawing appraisal and test performance) of an equipment which, due to its complexity or peculiarity, is produced in a single unit.
Single product verification does not require any other certification process (Module) to certify that the equipment is in compliance with the MED. So, equipment covered by a Marine Equipment EC Unit Verification Certificate may be marketed. Said certificate has unlimited validity, provided no subsequent modifications are made to the approved equipment.
How to proceed?
The procedure consists of the following main steps:
- Manufacturer's application
- Examination of technical documentation
- Preliminary approval of drawings, when required by the rules
- Definition of the test program
- Identification of the testing laboratory (*)
- Execution of tests
- Review of the test reports
- Issuance of Marine Equipment EC Unit Verification Certificate (Module G).
(*) - Fire resistance and reaction tests and tests on life saving appliances may be carried out at RINA Laboratory.
