Member Engine Certification
What's Member Engine Certification?
Member Engine certification is a procedure to be followed on engines identical to an already certified Parent Engine. Engine components and settings are to be inspected and found the same as those of the parent engine.
What's the purpose of Member Engine Certification?
The purpose of Member Engine Certification is to get an EIAPP Certificate issued by RINA on behalf of the Flag Administration. In case of lack of information regarding the Flag Administration, a Statement of Compliance will be issued.
Which engines is Member Engine Certification applicable to?
EIAPP Certificate, is required for each diesel engine with a power output of more than 130 kW which is installed on a ship constructed on or after 1 January 2000 and each diesel engine with a power output of more than 130 kW which undergoes a major conversion on or after 1 January 2000.
Emergency diesel engines, engines installed in lifeboats and any device or equipment intended to be used solely in case of emergency are exempted.
How to proceed?
The procedure consists of the following steps:
- Manufacturer's application
- Preliminary review of engine documentation and approval of engine technical file for comparison with the technical file of the already certified Parent Engine.
- Execution of a visit on the engine to check that engine components and settings are those listed in the approved technical file
- Issuance of EIAPP Certificate or Statement of Compliance
